Mission ShakthiSAT

ShakthiSAT, driven by the burning desire to empower little girls globally through the awe-inspiring realm of space exploration, plans the participation of 12000 courageous girls from every corner of the globe, representing 108 diverse nations. With unwavering determination, the mission sets out to extend a golden opportunity to 108 talented students from each country, igniting their passion

In a world scarred by division and discord, ShakthiSAT stands as a beacon of hope, fervently dedicated to fostering unparalleled international cooperation and unity. With hearts ablaze with the spirit of unity, our mission dares to transcend the confines of geography and culture, envisaging a momentous occasion that unites humanity under the vast expanse of the cosmos.

Why girls?

  • Unleashing the Universe's Untapped Stars: A mere 20% of space jobs are held by women. Engaging girls isn't just closing a gap, it's launching a universe of untapped talent.

  • Equal Access to Infinity: Every girl deserves to reach for the stars. Let's shatter stereotypes and ignite the next generation of trailblazing astronauts.

  • Igniting Passion, Building Leaders: Hands-on experiences spark a love for science and hone essential skills. Girls in space programs transform into confident leaders shaping the future of STEM.

  • Breaking Barriers, Reaching Beyond: Encouraging girls to excel in traditionally male-dominated fields isn't just about careers, it's about shattering stereotypes and reaching for the impossible.

Why 108 countries?

  • Unifying a Global Quest: Imagine 108 nations joining forces! This isn't just diversity; it's a symphony of brilliant minds from every corner of the Earth.

  • Igniting a Spark of Innovation: When cultures collide, so do ideas! Collaboration across borders sparks unprecedented creativity, leading to breakthroughs

  • Breaking Down Walls, Building Bridges: This isn't just about space; it's about understanding. By engaging students from diverse backgrounds, we foster mutual respect and create a future where humanity explores the cosmos as one.

  • Leaving an Unforgettable Footprint: We're not just reaching for the stars; we're making a global impact. By uniting nations, we amplify our collective voice and ensure space exploration benefits all of humanity.

About

Space Kidz India

Space Kidz India is an Indian Aerospace Startup pioneering in design, fabrication and launch of small satellites, spacecrafts and ground Systems. Our goal is to provide economical and sustainable access to space to cater to the needs of education, research and the industry. With 7+ years of experience, we have launched 19+ NSLV’s (BalloonSats), 3 Suborbital Payloads and 4 Orbital Satellites. We are the first organisation in the World to have launched satellites through high school and college students. Also ambassadors to the “NASA”, “ESA” and “GCTC Russia” Space Camps.

Our Experience

From Humble beginnings to building satellites

Previously we have worked in a similar mission named AzaadiSAT. Embarking on a mission to empower economically disadvantaged girls in India with the wonders of space and science. AzaadiSAT stands as a beacon of inspiration and innovation. Conceived by Dr. Srimathy Kesan, this ambitious project was born out of a vision to commemorate India's 75th anniversary of independence - Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Selected students from 75 government schools across India were given the opportunity to participate in basic experiments designed to ignite curiosity and learning. Despite initial setbacks, the resilience of the team ensured the success of AzaadiSAT-2, which was launched successfully on February 10, 2023. This marked a historic moment as 750 rural girl students contributed to building and launching the satellite, showcasing the power of collaboration and determination. With this experience, we now aim to reach the Moon!

Our Previous Missions

Dr. Srimathy Kesan

Mission Director

Dr. Srimathy Kesan, Founder & CEO of "Space Kidz India" (SKI), an aerospace startup designing, manufacturing and launching nano and micro satellites in India.

19  NSLV’s (Near Space Launch Vehicles), BallonSat’s, 3 Sub-Orbital satellites, and 4 Orbital satellites were designed, manufactured and launched by Dr. Kesan and her team, who are young adults. The orbital satellites were all launched through Indian Space Research Organization- ISRO. Notably, her guidance led to the historic launch of 'KALAMSAT - The World's lightest and First-ever 3-D printed satellite' via NASA’s Terrier Orion rocket, in 2017, showcasing the ingenuity and potential of young Indian talent.

Teaching the nuances of building a BalloonSAT to the students from humble backgrounds of Seychelles, Africa, with support from UNESCO is a notable event in her career as she received accolades from the Vice President of the Country.

Furthermore, 1st time in the World, she conceived and spearheaded the “AzaadiSat” project, involving 750 rural girls from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in building and launching a satellite on 10th February 2023, symbolising empowerment and inclusivity in space exploration.   This apart, a remarkable tribute to India's Independence, Dr. Kesan conceptualised to unfurled the “Indian National flag” at 30kms near Space, garnering global recognition as a tribute to any country. Additionally, she had sent the holy book of India, the Bhagvath Gita, into space, symbolising the fusion of spirituality and scientific exploration. Dr. Kesan's commitment to scientific education is evident in initiatives like "Young Scientist India," motivating students to pursue science and technology. She has interacted with close to a million students across the Globe. Moreover, her distinction as the only Indian bestowed with the Ambassador status to the top 3 research centers' Space camps underscores her unparalleled contributions to space education and exploration. Bestowed with the rarest opportunity of being the 1st Woman from India to fly the Zero Gravity flight alongside Appolo astronaut and Moon Walker Charles Duke, 1st Woman in NASA Ms. Poppy Northcut and Private Astronaut Richard Gariett.

Invitation to share the dais with the reputed Physicist Stefen Hawking is a milestone achievement. Applauded by the President and Prime Minister of India, for empowering rural girls in satellite building to fostering scientific temper among high school students, and unwavering dedication.
After the huge success of  “AzaadiSat”, Dr. Srimathy Kesan embarks on an ambitious mission of bringing together 12000 high school girl children across the globe through “Mission ShakthiSAT”. A mission dedicated to “Peace and Power”, involving 108 girls, and 108 Countries building a spacecraft to be injected into Lunar Orbit.
